The Interurban Transport of Tenerife (TITSA) and the Metropolitan Transport of Tenerife, along with trams, will change their operating times during the Christmas period and on the 31st additional special night routes will be added. Trams in Tenerife will operate throughout the night on New Year's Eve and on the eve of Epiphany.

The Council of Tenerife's Department for Sustainability, Territory and the Environment has published a complete Didactic Guide, a tool that enables primary school teachers to incorporate correct waste management into classroom activities. The objective is to propose activities and resolve the principal doubts that could arise when taking the decision to incorporate the problem of waste management into teaching.

The Council of Tenerife has authorised motor vehicles to drive along a number of forest tracks on the island. Mopeds, motorbikes and private cars are free to travel along the designated forest tracks; however, sports vehicles such as all-terrain quads, enduro motorcycles, motocross bikes and all-terrain cars are limited to a maximum number of 600.

The Council of Tenerife, via the Institute for Technology and Renewable Energies (ITER), and the company Metrópolis Global, have signed an agreement to promote the development of new communication technologies in Latin-America. The agreement proposes the possible twinning of Tenerife with the cities of Santo Domingo, San José in Costa Rica, Panama City and Guatemala City.

The TEA Tenerife Espacio de las Artes opened its doors on Friday the 31st of October with three grand exhibitions, one devoted to the surreal artist from Tenerife Óscar Domínguez; a second exhibition on the origins of humankind and life in the Universe titled "Cosmos. En busca de los orígenes: desde Kupka a Kubrick"; and a third exhibition titled "Un arma visual: fotomontajes soviéticos 1917-1953", comprising graphic images from the first years of the Soviet Union.

The conservation of resources and the maintenance and restoration of the natural environment are concerns that involve all of us: institutions, citizens and companies. The Council of Tenerife, in collaboration with the Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Shipping of Santa Cruz de Tenerife and CajaCanarias, now affords companies the opportunity to contribute to the fulfilment of these objectives: the Ecobond, a pilot project for the reforestation of the island over the course of 2009 involving financing provided by companies.

Tenerife has registered a total of 4,443,426 tourists in over the course of the first ten months of the year, a figure that represents a year-on-year increase of 1.38%, which has reaped benefits in both the hotel sector and the non-hotel tourist accommodation sector. At the same time, the Council of Tenerife maintains and increases its initiatives to promote tourism, on this occasion via an agreement with the Chamber of Commerce to promote tourism in several areas.

The Council of Tenerife will provide funding to promote the creation of groups, or clusters, of innovative companies. Those to benefit from this funding include the tobacco, viniculture, audiovisual, engineering, sustainable construction and information and communication technology sectors.

The Council of Tenerife carried out another study on wine sales in the island. The study shows that sales of Tenerife wines have not dropped despite an overall fall in wine sales in the market. The study carried out by the company Nielsen indicates that the demand for Designation of Origin wines remains stable, whereas sales of bottled table wines and wines from other regions in Spain have fallen.
